MATE Ergonomics has raised $745K in seed funding to push its validated musculoskeletal modeling into more workplaces. The KU Leuven spin-off says its approach hits 77% accuracy at predicting injury risk, compared with 9% for traditional assessment methods like RULA, REBA, and KIM - a gap it attributes to peer-reviewed biomechanics research rather than a repackaged checklist.
The round drew backing from LRM NV, KU Leuven's Gemma Frisius Fund, and angels Olivier Georis, Jos Deschagt, and Peter Nijs. Ergonomists and health and safety managers use MATE to measure the actual physical load on a worker's body during a task, aiming to flag injury risk before it turns into a claim.
