The 9 best recruiting APIs in 2026

One keyword, two products. Data APIs read the market, integration APIs run your ATS, and this list refuses to blur them.

Did you know that most people searching for a recruiting API end up demoing the wrong product? Hear me out on this one. The keyword hides two categories that share nothing but the word recruiting, and vendors on both sides are happy to let the confusion book the call.

The split carries three problems the demo never mentions.

  • One keyword, two products. Integration APIs read and write your ATS records. Data APIs tell you what the market is doing. Neither substitutes for the other.
  • Integration APIs cannot see the market. Your ATS knows your candidates and your pipeline. It has no idea which company started hiring this morning.
  • Data APIs do not run your ATS. Events feed a motion or a product. They do not move candidates through stages, and any data vendor implying otherwise is selling.

So decide the job first, then pick the lane. This list splits the 9 best recruiting APIs into the two lanes explicitly, and every vendor is ranked inside the lane it genuinely leads. We build Signalbase, which competes in the data lane only.

Vendors reviewed July 2026. Claims describe each vendor's model rather than numbers that go stale, and every entry ends with where it stops, ours included.

Read the lane column before the names, because inside the data lane the detection models differ. Signalbase detects events live across the whole market, beyond the boards. Fantastic.jobs scrapes job boards and career sites hourly. CrustData polls the list you enroll. PeopleDataLabs rebuilds records in batches, and Coresignal sells the archive. The integration lane is a different product entirely, access to your own ATS records.

How we chose the best recruiting APIs: 3 cuts, not a score

Three criteria, each built to disqualify. What survived is the list.

Cut 1
A real API product

Documented endpoints a developer can build on. Tools with export buttons marketed as APIs got cut.

Cut 2
One honest lane

Data APIs read the market, integration APIs run your ATS. Vendors claiming both lanes at once got cut, because the two are different products with different physics.

Cut 3
A stated freshness or sync model

Event push, hourly refresh, record rebuilds, or webhook sync, every entry says how current its data is. Vendors silent on cadence got cut.

The 9 best recruiting APIs, by lane

Signalbase claims first place in the data lane only. The integration lane is ranked without us in it, which is exactly why you can trust that ranking.

Recruiting data APIs: read the market

The lane: External events your product, agents or pipeline act on: who is hiring, who moved, who raised. This is the lane we build in.

01

Signalbase

Sub-minute freshness
Founded 2025 · Amsterdam, NL · 7-day trial
FitsSMBMid-marketEnterprise
Best for platforms, GTM teams or recruiting agencies that want sub-minute freshness on recruiting signals instead of stale snapshots.
Signalbase reads recruiting as live events, hiring signals and job changes pushed with the source attached, including the exec posts that fire 3 to 4 weeks before a listing. The web is read at scale first, firmographic filters find your ICP second, and funding and M&A stack inside the same profile.
Where it stops
A data API by design. It does not read or write records inside your ATS, which is the integration lane below, and it carries no candidate contact data, so reaching the person directly still needs your enrichment stack.
02

Fantastic.jobs

Amsterdam, NL · Published tiers, free trial
FitsMid-marketEnterprise
Best for job boards and posting products that want hourly-fresh listings with published pricing.
Fantastic.jobs is a job posting API built career-site-first, with postings collected across a large career-site and ATS footprint and refreshed hourly. Pricing is published from a free trial through volume tiers, and it is one of the easiest and most focused APIs in the category to test. If the thing you are building is a job board, this is the pick.
Where it stops
Scoped to postings on purpose. Job changes, funding, and the pre-listing post layer are a different product, which is why plenty of teams run a posting API and a signal layer side by side.
03

Coresignal

Founded 2016 · Vilnius, LT · Self-serve tiers
FitsMid-marketEnterprise
Good for those who search large datasets: postings and employee records with back dates.
Coresignal has sold posting and employee records for a decade, hundreds of millions of rows with back dates for historical modeling. Buyers pull the records in bulk to feed models, market research, and rec-tech products.
Where it stops
Records access rather than an alerting product. The corpus tells you what the hiring market looks like; it is not built to tap you on the shoulder when one account opens one role.
04

CrustData

San Francisco, US · Sales-led
FitsMid-marketEnterprise
Best for deep company records with history, plus watchers polling the accounts you enroll.
CrustData pairs company and person records with a watcher API on top. The model is enroll and poll. You supply the list, up to 10,000 people per watch, and it re-checks on a schedule you set, from hourly on, notifying when a tracked field changes. The record depth and history are the draw.
Where it stops
List-bound and cadence-bound by design. Freshness is the polling interval you configure and coverage is the list you enrolled, so it suits backfilling and tracking known accounts. Broad fresh monitoring, where the mover introduces the account, is the part a signal layer adds.
05

PeopleDataLabs

San Francisco, US · Self-serve, free tier
FitsMid-marketEnterprise
Best for person and company records as raw material for rec-tech builders.
PeopleDataLabs supplies billions of person and company records with self-serve API access and the licensing model rec-tech products get built on. Change detection comes from diffing builds on refresh cycles, documented openly in their changelog.
Where it stops
Record stock on refresh cycles by design, so a job change surfaces when the record rebuilds rather than when the person announces it. Sourcing raw material, yes; timing triggers, no.

ATS and integration APIs: run your hiring workflow

The lane: APIs that read and write the records inside applicant tracking systems. We do not compete in this lane, and a rec-tech stack is incomplete without it.

06

Merge

San Francisco, US · Published tiers
FitsMid-marketEnterprise
Best for shipping one integration that covers dozens of ATS platforms at once.
Merge is the unified-API play: build against one schema and reach the ATS platforms your customers already run, candidates, applications, and jobs included. For a rec-tech product that has to meet customers inside whatever ATS they use, this is the lane standard.
Where it stops
It moves records between systems you already have access to. Nothing in it knows which company in the market started hiring this morning, which is the data lane's job.
07

Greenhouse Harvest API

Included with Greenhouse
FitsMid-marketEnterprise
Best for building directly on your own Greenhouse instance.
Greenhouse's Harvest API exposes the records inside your own instance, candidates, applications, scorecards, and jobs, with webhooks for changes. If Greenhouse is your system of record, this is the deepest programmatic access to it.
Where it stops
Scoped to your instance and your data. It automates the hiring workflow you already run rather than telling you where the next mandate is.
08

Workable API

Included with Workable
FitsSMBMid-market
Best for integrations and career-site builds on a Workable account.
Workable's developer API covers jobs, candidates, and pipeline stages for your account, with a partner program around assessments, sourcing, and onboarding integrations. A pragmatic pick for teams already hiring through it.
Where it stops
Your account's records, full stop. Market visibility, postings elsewhere, and movement data all live outside it.
09

SmartRecruiters API

Included with SmartRecruiters
FitsEnterprise
Best for enterprise hiring workflows built on the SmartRecruiters platform.
SmartRecruiters exposes a broad platform API, jobs, candidates, postings, reviews, interviews, and reporting, aimed at enterprise talent-acquisition teams wiring the ATS into the rest of their stack.
Where it stops
Enterprise ATS scope: powerful inside the platform, silent about the market outside it.

What is a recruiting API?

Two products share the name. An integration API, Merge or an ATS's own developer API, reads and writes the records inside systems you already run: candidates, applications, interviews, jobs. It is plumbing between tools that hold your data, and rec-tech does not function without it.

A recruiting data API looks the other way, outward at the market. It supplies the events your product, agents or pipeline act on: which company opened roles this morning, which executive just moved, which funded company is about to make its first hires. The buyers differ too. Integration APIs get bought by engineering teams meeting customers where they are; data APIs get bought by the teams whose revenue depends on timing, agency BD, GTM platforms, and rec-tech products that need something live to show.

The two compose. A rec-tech product typically writes into the ATS through the integration lane and differentiates through the data lane, and the full argument for the data side, the source layers, the freshness model, and the two event types, lives on our Recruiting Data API page.

The recruiting APIs that didn't make the list

Job boards are absent because posting an ad and selling programmatic access are different businesses, and their APIs serve advertisers rather than data buyers. Generic scraping marketplaces got cut on the sourcing criterion: an endpoint you configure to scrape is infrastructure, and a posting you cannot trace is a posting you cannot trust. Workforce analytics suites got cut for lane reasons, since aggregate market curves are a research product rather than an API your motion acts on.

The bottom line on recruiting APIs

Name the job before you book the demo. If the job is moving records between systems you already own, buy the integration lane and be precise about which ATS platforms matter. If the job is knowing which company to reach this week, before the role is public, that is the data lane, and it is the lane we built for: hiring signals and job changes with sub-minute freshness, stacked with the funding rounds that precede them.

Recruiting APIs FAQ

Signalbase, for the data lane: sub-minute recruiting signals, hiring and job changes read from the web at scale with firmographic filters finding your ICP, delivered over API, MCP, and webhooks. The integration lane is a different product, and there the honest answer is Merge for unified ATS coverage or your ATS's own API for depth on one platform.
