South Korea’s Upstage has pulled in $381.0M in a Series D round, a hefty infusion that underscores the growing appetite for enterprise AI tools built outside the usual U.S. hubs. The funding was led by a consortium of domestic financial heavyweights, including Korea Development Bank, Industrial Bank of Korea, Mirae Asset Venture Investment, Sazze Partners, and Shinhan Venture Investment.
The company’s pitch is straightforward: its Solar large-language model aims to deliver enterprise-grade AI without the sky-high compute bills, while its Document AI product automates paperwork using advanced OCR. With this capital, Upstage is positioning itself to scale its offerings in a crowded market where cost efficiency is becoming the key differentiator.
