Southern Sydney Women’s Therapy Centre, operating as Sydney Women's Counselling Centre (SWCC), has secured $20,000 in investment capital from investors. This funding round marks a significant financial boost for the community-based specialist counselling service, underscoring the ongoing need for its vital programs and support for women in the region. The investment will enable SWCC to further its mission of providing accessible mental health and wellbeing services.
SWCC offers comprehensive assessment, brief interventions, and both short-term and longer-term counselling through various programs, including General Mental Health/Domestic Violence, Drug and Alcohol, Gambling, and Bilingual counselling. Its services address a wide spectrum of issues affecting women's well-being, such as depression, grief and bereavement, sexual assault, domestic violence, childhood abuse, self-esteem challenges, and concerns related to substance use or gambling. The centre also facilitates therapeutic and educational groups focused on areas like domestic violence, sexual abuse, art therapy, gambling, substance use, and parenting. The service is open to all women, regardless of race, income, or age, providing affordable and professionally qualified support in an accessible environment.
The newly secured capital is intended to strengthen SWCC's operational capabilities and support its ongoing service delivery. While specific allocations were not disclosed, the funds are expected to contribute to enhancing existing counselling programs and ensuring the continued availability of its low-cost or free services. This investment highlights the critical role SWCC plays in the mental health landscape for women in Southern Sydney. The organization is focused on leveraging this funding to sustain its vital support for women navigating complex life challenges, aiming for continued impact and reach within the community.
