Rendezvous Robotics has raised $20.0M to build out space infrastructure that assembles itself in orbit. The company's modular, autonomous systems are designed to snap together once they're up there, an approach it says makes infrastructure more scalable and easier to reconfigure than the fixed hardware typically sent to space.
At the core of that pitch is TESSERAE, a patented technology Rendezvous says can serve national security, commercial and civil markets. The round drew backing from Mac Venture Capital, Toyota Ventures, the University of Michigan Endowment, Astera Ventures, Industrious Ventures, Aurelia Foundry, ATX Venture Partners and Mana Ventures.
