Yeast Bay Bio has raised $500K in pre-seed funding from The Draper Foundation. The biotech startup is developing yeast-based solutions to control household insects, aiming to offer a safer alternative to the chemicals typically found in bug sprays and traps.
The company says its approach is designed to protect families, pets, and the environment - a pitch that fits the broader push to replace synthetic pesticides with biological ones. The pre-seed round gives Yeast Bay Bio its first outside capital as it works to bring that vision to market.
