LEMMA has raised $2.3M in pre-seed funding. The round drew backing from Matrix, Y Combinator, and Liquid 2 Ventures.

Jerry Zhang and Cole Gawin pulled a free logo off Figma and built a hard coded demo, just in time for their Y Combinator interview. They got in. The two met as freshmen in USC's startup program.
In September 2025 they took leave from USC to build Lemma full time, after a $575,000 first round that included Y Combinator, Cole wrote at the time. Lemma started as a prompt optimization tool. Jerry says a string of micro pivots led it to production monitoring for AI agents, and the company rebranded in June 2026.
