Icarus Robotics has raised $6.1M in seed funding from Soma Capital, Xtal, Nebular, and Massive Tech Ventures - a round the company says came together in just 12 days. The startup is building dexterous mobile robots designed to take on routine, time-consuming, and hazardous tasks alongside astronaut crews, at a fraction of the cost of human labor.
Icarus says it already has design partnerships with leading commercial space destinations and NASA, and is preparing for its first deployment to the ISS with one of its customers for full-scale testing. The longer-term ambition is automated orbital factories, with the company positioning itself at the center of a rapidly expanding space economy.
