$11.5M in new funding is heading to Torch Systems, a startup aiming to bring AI-powered visibility to the often-overlooked world of outdoor assets. The Lafayette, California-based company, which provides continuous monitoring for utilities, renewable energy operators, and municipalities, announced the capital infusion from investors including Khosla Ventures, Abstract, Construct Capital, and Starship Ventures.
Torch tackles the challenge of remote infrastructure monitoring, where traditional methods like manual inspections and periodic flyovers leave critical blind spots. Its TerraNode⢠device, a self-contained, solar-powered unit equipped with optical and thermal cameras plus various sensors and edge AI, installs in minutes to provide preventative intelligence across sites that have been too difficult or expensive to monitor. Hundreds of TerraNodes are currently deployed across six states.
