The Electric Plant Company has raised $11.2M in seed funding to build out technology that reads the electrical signals plants give off and turns them into usable data. The round drew backing from Onto Ventures, Climactic, Ponderosa, Endeavor Catalyst, Ludlow, Michigan Rise, The Fund, Schox VC and Dug Song.
The company's pitch rests on two pieces of hardware and software: the Bud probe, which picks up plant electrophysiology, and the Bombadil foundation model, which translates those signals into insights. The stated applications run from orchard health monitoring to water quality detection and carbon accounting.
