Specific Biologics has raised $35.0M in Series A funding. The company is developing gene editing technologies designed to treat diseases at the genetic level, working on a platform built around a dual-cleaving nuclease intended to be safely delivered to cells.
That nuclease is designed to make better use of the cell's own DNA repair pathways, whether through enhanced repair or predictable deletions. The company says it is actively developing the platform for the treatment of various genetic diseases.
