Pouchers has raised $500K in pre-seed funding, a bet on the growing demand for stablecoin-based financial tools among Africans working and spending across borders. The round’s investors were not disclosed.
The startup is building a multicurrency wallet that lets users fund accounts with Naira, USDT, or USDC, then spend via virtual cards accepted on platforms like Meta, Apple, Netflix, and Amazon. Pouchers is also working on adding USD, EUR, GBP, and CAD bank accounts, aiming to give freelancers, remote workers, and travelers a single place to hold and switch between currencies without relying on traditional banks. The pitch is straightforward: fewer blocked cards, faster transfers, and more control over money that moves across time zones.
