Plasma2x Limited has raised $1.7M in pre-seed funding to advance its process for making ammonia from air and water using renewable energy. The round was backed by TSP Ventures, LYVA Labs, DITEVEN LIMITED and Innovate UK.
The company's technology combines plasma and electrocatalysis to produce ammonia without fossil fuels, a process it says generates no carbon emissions. Its reactor is designed to run at room temperature and atmospheric pressure without expensive metal catalysts, and its start-stop capability is meant to pair better with intermittent renewable sources. Plasma2x also pitches the approach as decentralised, letting regions and businesses produce ammonia closer to where it's needed and trim supply chains and transport.
