The race to green the construction sector just got a significant boost. NeoCem, a French startup developing a circular solution to slash carbon emissions in cement production, has secured $17.0M in new funding.
Since 2017, NeoCem has been transforming clay waste from building sites into low-carbon cement ingredients, a process that can reduce clinker in traditional cement by up to 70% and cut COâ‚‚ emissions by 90% compared to the substituted material. The company, which aims to make low-carbon the new norm in construction, plans to open its first factory near Paris in 2025, with a capacity to produce 200,000 tons of calcined clay annually.
