Northern Light Microscopy is a Glasgow‑based precision photonics company developing advanced optical imaging solutions for the life sciences. Optical microscopy underpins almost every major biological discovery of the past century, yet access to the latest high‑ and super‑resolution imaging methods remains limited by cost, complexity and specialist infrastructure. At Northern Light Microscopy, we are changing that. We design and build accessible advanced and super‑resolution microscopy platforms that allow researchers to extract significantly more spatial information from their samples than conventional microscopes — with no changes to established workflows. Our systems operate directly on the standard laboratory bench, removing the need for specialist facilities or expert operators. Our flagship AMIS (Advanced Modular Imaging System) is a compact, fully enclosed benchtop microscope that integrates multiple advanced and super‑resolution imaging modes into a single platform. Powered by our patent‑pending illumination engine and controlled through our intuitive LINK software, AMIS allows users to configure, acquire and manage complex multi‑dimensional imaging experiments with ease. LINK is designed to make advanced imaging straightforward and repeatable, reducing setup time and lowering the barrier to routine use. AMIS supports both low‑ and high‑throughput workflows, delivering enhanced spatial resolution and background rejection across everything from individual microscope slides to 96‑ and 384‑well plates. For the first time, researchers no longer have to choose between specimen throughput and spatial resolution. By offering advanced imaging at a realistic price point, we aim to put next‑generation microscopy into the hands of the many, not just the few — empowering academic labs, biotech start‑ups and industry scientists alike.
