Gray Matters Capital is putting $40.0M behind HerSpace, a nonprofit that provides free mental health and wellbeing services to women survivors of exploitation in Australia. The funding marks one of the larger known investments in a charity focused on this niche, where services are scarce.
HerSpace says it is the first Australian organization specializing in recovery for women who have endured sexual exploitation, human trafficking, forced labor, and related practices. Its approach is trauma-informed and client-led, tailoring support to each woman’s needs. The capital from Gray Matters Capital, an investor known for backing social enterprises, is expected to help scale that work-though specifics on how the funds will be deployed were not disclosed.
