A new European venture aiming to turn CO2 and old battery graphite into high-performing anode material for li-ion batteries has just closed its pre-seed round. Astracite, as the company is known, announced it has raised $871K to advance its climate-positive approach.
The startup is developing a novel method to produce crucial anode material, not only from captured carbon dioxide but also by recycling graphite from end-of-life batteries. This dual-pronged strategy positions Astracite to contribute to a more sustainable battery supply chain in Europe, addressing both emissions and material scarcity with its innovative process.
