ARC Ride has pulled in $33.3M in a Series A round, a sizable bet on electrifying mass transit in Africa鈥檚 fastest-growing cities. The funding, led by a consortium that includes Novastar Ventures, Norrsken22, and the International Finance Corporation, also drew in British international investment, Proparco, Musashi Seimitsu, and Talanton.
The Nairobi-based company isn鈥檛 just building a fleet of electric vehicles; it鈥檚 also laying down the battery-charging infrastructure to keep them running. That dual approach-vehicles plus the grid to power them-is what sets ARC Ride apart in a market where charging networks remain sparse. The fresh capital should help scale a model that鈥檚 still early but squarely aimed at a pressing problem: moving millions of people without choking the air further.
