Micro Thermal Energy Ltd has raised $1.5M in pre-seed funding to advance Thermawynd®, its technology for generating green electricity from low-temperature heat sources.
The round drew backing from Impact Shakers, CarbonFix, SFC Capital and the Net Zero Technology Centre. Thermawynd® uses patent-pending designs and an application of existing technologies to convert heat from shallow geothermal wells and industrial waste heat into electricity at local sites, independent of grid infrastructure - a setup the company says suits remote locations and areas with grid overload, and one it claims is more reliable and lower cost than wind and solar.
