A new player in sustainable food production, ValueGrain, has closed a $3.8M seed funding round to advance its upcycling technology. The startup specializes in transforming Brewers Spent Grain (BSG), a significant by-product of the brewing process, into a plant-based, nutritious, and price-competitive ingredient it calls 'Value Grain'.
This capital infusion, backed by investors Bernhard Schadeberg and Joachim Friedsch, underscores growing interest in circular economy solutions for the food industry. ValueGrain's process aims to create a sustainable food source from what would otherwise be waste.
