TetraGen Robotics has pulled in $1.8M in seed funding, a bet that its vision-guided welding robots can crack a stubborn problem in manufacturing: automating jobs where parts change constantly. StepChange Capital and Emend Vision Fund led the round, with Jim Richardson also participating.
The pitch is straightforward. TetraGen’s robot cells use proprietary 3D vision and AI to “see” new parts and adapt on the fly, cutting the need for heavy reprogramming. That’s aimed at high-mix, high-variability shops where traditional automation struggles to pay off. The fresh capital gives the startup runway to push that technology further into a market that’s long been waiting for a cheaper, smarter alternative to manual welding.
