SunLED Life Science has raised $5.6M in funding from Momentum Global Ventures. The Amsterdam-based research team is developing health and wellness technologies built around near-infrared light, a component of sunlight that most people miss out on by spending roughly 90% of their waking hours indoors.
The company says its technology can be integrated into screens, lighting fixtures and car dashboards, with claimed benefits including improved mood, reduced drowsiness and better immune function. Its ongoing research looks at how near-infrared light affects the body through photobiomodulation therapy.
