Strand Therapeutics, a pioneering company founded by visionary biological engineers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has successfully raised $153 million in its latest funding round. This remarkable achievement not only underscores investor confidence in Strand’s innovative approach to mRNA therapeutics but also reinforces the company’s commitment to revolutionizing how treatments are developed and administered. Built on the groundbreaking concept of smart therapies—systems designed to make sophisticated, autonomous decisions—Strand is at the forefront of creating targeted mRNA treatments that promise to enhance safety and efficacy in patient care. By engineering a unique mRNA programming language, the company has established the world’s first platform for mRNA smart therapies, an area that had remained largely untapped by traditional synthetic biology methods. The infusion of funds will empower Strand to further refine its proprietary technology, which uses intricate mRNA-encoded logic circuits to precisely control the location, timing, and intensity of therapeutic protein expression within the body. These circuits are capable of sensing and classifying the distinct mRNA expression signatures of cells, ensuring that therapeutic interventions are both cell-type specific and adaptive to patient needs. Additionally, the funding is poised to accelerate Strand’s efforts in clinical development and expand its research capabilities, ultimately bringing this advanced therapeutic platform one step closer to transforming patient outcomes. With this significant investment, Strand Therapeutics is well-positioned to lead the charge in creating smarter, safer therapies that meet the demands of modern medicine.

Spiral Hydrogen
Spiral Hydrogen is building next-generation electrolyzers. Based on alkaline electrolyzers, we solve many core problems plaguing current systems. Our electrolyers have no gas bubbles, and achieve efficiencies up to 95%. We use rotation to pump our electrolyte, achiving current densities up to 3 A/cm². In addition, our stack cost is an order magnitude cheaper, due to a simplified stack design and longer lifetime. Our goal is to get the green hydrogen price below fossil hydrogen, unlocking a €250B market for decarbonization and making hydrogen transportation and heating commercially viable. We have validated our technology in lab conditions (TRL 4) and are looking for pilot partners and investors to build our first pilot (TRL 6).
