SLM Partners has raised $168.1M to acquire rural land and convert it to regenerative, ecologically managed farms and forests. The firm, which manages money for pension funds, insurance companies and family offices, pairs with local farmers and foresters - or builds its own teams - to run the land and lift operational performance.
APG backed the round. SLM targets market-rate returns on real assets, drawn from a mix of operating income and land appreciation, and structures its deals around 10-year-plus horizons with management agreements meant to keep its interests and its operators' aligned.
