Addressing the persistent challenge of poor banking experiences and high fees in French-speaking Africa, PaySika, a neo-bank operating on popular messaging apps, has closed a $200K pre-seed round. The capital infusion comes from investors Madica and Flourish Ventures.
PaySika stands out by offering banking services directly through platforms like WhatsApp, Messenger, and Telegram, alongside its mobile and web app. This approach leverages existing mobile money infrastructure to provide more affordable, transparent, and smoother online payment experiences in a region where less than 20% of the population has a traditional bank account.
