Panthalassa, which aims to turn the vast power of the open ocean into the planet's cheapest energy, has secured $140.0M in Series B funding. The company is developing solutions for clean compute at sea and renewable fuels to shore, tapping into what it calls Earth’s largest and most power-dense renewable energy resource.
The significant capital infusion drew a broad syndicate of investors, notably including Peter Thiel, John Doerr, Founders Fund, and Lowercarbon Capital. They were joined by TIME Ventures, SciFi Ventures, Susquehanna Sustainable Investments, Hanwha Group, and others backing the ambitious ocean energy project.
