Oxhy has raised $2.0M in seed funding, a round that will carry its infrared-harvesting photovoltaic technology from a lab prototype toward commercial readiness.
Founded in April 2023, the startup is developing what it calls an "Oxhydroelectric Cell," a photovoltaic cell that operates in the infrared range and can generate electricity from environmental heat-meaning it keeps working at night. The company says this capability sets it apart from existing energy-harvesting technologies, which typically rely on visible light or other ambient sources. The fresh capital is earmarked to push its current TRL4 prototype to TRL6-TRL7, with a focus on improving efficiency and miniaturization, and to build the first commercial prototypes.
