Satellites running low on power in orbit could soon get a boost, as ORiS - Space, a startup developing wireless power transmission via high-precision lasers, has closed a $5.7M pre-seed round.
The capital infusion will fuel its work on an innovative in-orbit energy charging service for satellites, transferring power directly to customer solar panels without requiring any retrofits. The company, also recognized as NATO DIANA innovators for its drone recharging capabilities, attracted investment from Earlybird Venture Capital, Pitchdrive, Galaxia | Polo Nazionale di Trasferimento Tecnologico dell'Aerospazio, Vento, and Regione Piemonte.
