Orano Med, a company developing new cancer treatments based on radioactive isotopes, has secured $142.7M in funding from the European Investment Bank (EIB).
The investment comes as Orano Med continues its work with high-purity lead-212 (Pb-212), a rare radioactive isotope. This isotope is at the heart of its targeted alpha therapy (TAT) approach, which aims to recognize and destroy cancer cells while limiting impact on healthy tissue. The company's R&D program for Pb-212 began in 2005.
