With its innovative approach to bivalve farming, Oceano Fresco has secured $8.7M in Series b funding. The sustainable seafood company, which cultivates high-quality clams and flat oysters using advanced aquaculture techniques, aims to regenerate nature by changing how seafood is farmed.
Oceano Fresco operates a vertically integrated system, including a hatchery in Nazaré and the world’s first open-sea clam farm off the coast of Algarve, Portugal. Its bivalves, fed by naturally available microalgae, are low trophic animals that require no artificial feed or antibiotics, offering a protein source with positive environmental outputs like CO2 capture and water filtering.
