Turning fish waste into valuable organic fertilizer, Gloucester, MA-based Neptunes Harvest has reeled in $215K in seed funding. The family-owned company, which spun out of a fresh fish supplier in the early 1980s, processes the 60-70% of fish left over after filleting for human consumption.
This method creates an all-natural, nutrient-rich liquid fertilizer from North Atlantic catches, serving a broad customer base that includes farmers, landscapers, golf courses, and home gardeners. The company, which also offers other organic products, distributes its fertilizers across the United States and internationally, emphasizing quality and environmental benefit by preventing ocean disposal.
