Mozilla Data Collective has raised $5.0M from Mozilla, its parent organization, in a round that underscores the company's push to give communities more control over their data.
The platform is built around what it calls data agency and fair value exchange, aiming to help communities shape a tech future that's more multilingual, multicultural and multimodal - on their own terms. The funding comes entirely from Mozilla, keeping the effort closely tied to its parent's broader mission.
