The quest to make geothermal energy a global, cost-competitive alternative to fossil fuels just got a $135.0M boost. Mazama Energy, a startup focused on delivering large-scale, clean power from Superhot Rocks (SHR), announced its Series B funding round, drawing significant investment from a mix of venture capital and established energy players.
The round saw participation from Centaurus Capital, Doerr Capital, Khosla Ventures, and Gates Frontier, alongside strategic investors ConocoPhillips and Shell Ventures. Mazama Energy aims to redefine geothermal energy by combining deep geothermal expertise with oil and gas engineering knowhow to design robust Engineered Geothermal Systems.
