Luquos Energy has raised $12.7M in pre-Series A funding. The company is developing aqueous flow battery energy storage systems, aiming to offer an alternative to lithium-ion technology for grid and automobile applications.
Luquos says its flow battery design incorporates advanced electrolytes, electrodes and separators, with the goal of providing an inherently safe, scalable, low-cost and refuellable storage system. The company frames the technology as a response to the fire risks associated with lithium-ion batteries as renewable energy deployment scales up.
