Kumu has raised $5.0M in Series A funding. The company builds tools for tackling tough problems, and the fresh capital lands as it runs a small suite of products aimed at making sense of messy, complicated systems.
Its flagship product, Kumu, turns complex data into relationship maps for sensemaking - importing data to build visualizations that range from stakeholder mapping to system mapping. Alongside it, the company runs Sticky Studio, a real-time collaborative whiteboard built around sticky notes, and Undercurrent, a survey tool. A fourth product, System Effects, draws on soft systems, fuzzy cognitive mapping, and graph theory to survey how impacts, barriers, and enablers are perceived within a given system.
