Instinct has raised $250.0M in a Series B round backed by Index Ventures and Benchmark, a hefty bet on the idea that pet owners will keep trading kibble for raw, fresh food.
The company, which sells raw and minimally processed pet nutrition, frames its work as a push against the conventional pet food industry-one aimed at strengthening the bond between pets and their people while cutting down on the environmental toll of production. The funding arrives as the category heats up, with premium pet food brands drawing serious investor attention. What Instinct does with the capital remains under wraps, but the size of the round signals that its backers see room to scale beyond the niche it currently occupies.
