Hopstem Biotechnology has closed a $28.0M Series C round, adding fresh capital to its push in iPSC-derived cell therapies. The Hangzhou-based company, founded in 2017 by neuroscientists and stem cell biologists from Johns Hopkins University, is focused on turning induced pluripotent stem cells into treatments for central nervous system diseases, optical conditions, and tumors.
The company’s lead candidate, a neural progenitor cell therapy called hNPC01, targets neural injury diseases like stroke and traumatic brain injury. It has already received China’s IND approval and entered clinical trials. Hopstem also holds patents on iPSC reprogramming and a GMP-grade cell line with global licensing rights, positioning it to manufacture and scale its own products. The new funding will support its ongoing clinical work and pipeline development.
