Hadrian has raised $1.4B in a Series D round, a massive infusion for the startup building autonomous factories aimed at speeding up production of rockets, satellites, jets, and ships for the aerospace and defense sector. The round was backed by WCM Investment Management, Washington Harbour Partners, Valor Equity Partners, 137 Ventures, Baillie Gifford, and JPMorgan.
The company’s pitch is that its software-and-robotics-driven approach can manufacture critical parts up to 10 times faster and at half the cost of traditional methods. Hadrian, which previously raised a $260M Series C, is now expanding with a new 270,000-square-foot factory in Mesa, Arizona, and a new headquarters, while also launching Hadrian Maritime to target naval production.
