Laser-based drone defense is getting a financial boost as Ground A locks in $9.0M in pre-seed funding. The round, backed by Vsquared Ventures, Quantum Systems, GRIF, Robin Capital, ABACON, Leblon Capital, and OVNI Capital, marks an early bet on the German startupโs approach to countering rogue drones.
Ground A is engineering what it calls โsafer skiesโ through precise, scalable laser systems designed for drone defense, built entirely in Germany. The capital arrives as drone threats grow more common across civilian and military airspace, giving the young company runway to develop its technology further. With a heavyweight investor list spanning venture and strategic players, the pre-seed signals confidence in a niche but increasingly urgent market.
