Sequoia Capital is backing a new kind of advisory firm, one that wants to be a one-stop shop for companies navigating Asia’s trickiest sectors. Empirik Group Ltd has raised $21.0M in seed funding, with Canapi and Alumni Ventures joining Sequoia in the round.
The firm is a B2B consultancy covering health, education, lean manufacturing, and alternative energy, staffed by seasoned operators with decades of experience building businesses across Asia. Its pitch is hands-on: partners work alongside client teams on operational issues, from turnaround situations to supply chain optimization, rather than just delivering reports. The seed round, a hefty one for this stage, signals investor appetite for a more integrated approach to advisory work in the region’s high-growth markets.
