CAIS has raised $170.0M in a Series D round backed by Vista Equity Partners, a bet on the firm’s push to become the default operating system for alternative investments in the wealth management channel.
The New York-based company runs a platform that handles the pre-trade, trade, and post-trade lifecycle for alternatives, serving over 2,500 wealth management firms that support more than 65,000 advisors overseeing roughly $8.5 trillion in end-client assets. Founded in 2009, CAIS has carved out a niche by digitizing a historically manual and paper-heavy corner of finance, and it now counts offices in London, Austin, and Red Bank, New Jersey. The fresh capital arrives as independent advisors increasingly look to allocate to private assets, a trend that has made infrastructure like CAIS’s more central to their workflows.
