Buddy Bites has raised $4.2M, a fresh injection of capital from Digitalis Ventures and Adrian Lai that gives the dog food upstart more runway to keep pushing its direct-to-consumer pitch.
The company sells kibble with a tech-enabled twist-positioning itself as a challenger brand in the canine space, one that’s trying to make dog food fun. It also ties every sale to a donation: for every 2kg sold, 1kg goes to shelters. That model, part commerce and part cause, appears to be what drew the backing, though the company hasn’t detailed how the new funds will be deployed.
