Ampersand Energy, Africa's pioneering electric transport energy company, has raised $15.0M in Series A funding. The company, which operates the continent's longest-running commercial e-motorcycle fleet and battery swapping network at scale, has established a significant presence in Rwanda and Kenya since its 2016 founding.
The round saw participation from a diverse group of investors including Bessemer Venture Partners, Matrix, Flex Capital, Yelp, Tenacity Capital, CTO fund, and Mana Ventures. Ampersand is recognized for its best-in-class technology and performance, employing hundreds and leading the way for affordable, low-carbon public transport and green job creation.
