AMG Lithium GmbH Secures $42.0M

AMG Lithium GmbH, a subsidiary of AMG Critical Materials N.V., has secured $42.0 million in funding from investors.

The company specializes in the production of high-quality lithium-containing materials for the energy storage sector, focusing on preliminary materials for next-generation Li-ion batteries essential for electromobility.

Headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany, AMG Lithium is currently commissioning a refinery plant for Lithium Hydroxide Battery Grade (LiOH) in Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Germany.

This investment highlights the strategic importance of AMG Lithium's operations, particularly as it prepares to become the first LiOH Battery Grade supplier with a production site on European mainland.

This positioning offers short lead times and enhanced security of supply for Europe's rapidly expanding battery industry.

The company leverages extensive lithium expertise and long-term mining experience through its parent company, which is fully backwards-integrated to lithium raw materials from its operations in Brazil.

AMG Lithium is also a member of the European Raw Materials Alliance (ERMA).

The newly raised capital will be deployed to support the ongoing commissioning and ramp-up of its Lithium Hydroxide Battery Grade refinery plant in Bitterfeld-Wolfen.

Additionally, the funds will advance AMG Lithium's research and development initiatives, particularly in novel materials for next-generation batteries, conducted at its state-of-the-art labs in Frankfurt.

This funding round is expected to accelerate AMG Lithium's operational capabilities and reinforce its commitment to innovation in the battery materials sector.
