Alitheon, a company developing advanced machine-vision technology for product identification and authentication, has secured $8.0M in Series A funding. Its FeaturePrint system offers a unique, persistent identifier for items, much like fingerprints for people, aiming to eliminate counterfeits and gray markets.
The company's technology allows for track and trace capabilities and reduces human error by simply taking a photo with a standard camera. This approach bypasses the need for traditional methods like barcodes, QR codes, or special tags, simplifying the process of serializing products.
