Aflabox has raised $1.6M in seed funding, with backing from CDP Venture Capital SGR, Eatable Adventures, and Farming Future. The round marks a bet on a portable, AI-driven device designed to detect aflatoxins-toxic compounds that pose a growing threat to global food supplies.
The startup鈥檚 tool pairs UV sensor technology with machine learning to deliver rapid, on-site testing, a capability aimed at farmers, food companies, and regulators who often lack access to lab-grade analysis. Aflabox says it鈥檚 already active in Kenya, Nigeria, and Italy, and has picked up industry nods like Fortune鈥檚 Best Agrotech Solution in 2023. The fresh capital will help the company push further into markets where contamination risks are highest, though specifics on expansion plans remain under wraps.
