A startup producing collagen fibers at commercial scales, 3DBioFibR Inc., has closed a $100K seed round. The company utilizes a patented dry-spinning technology to create collagen fibers that closely recapitulate the biomechanical and biochemical properties of natural collagen structures.
With a fully automated manufacturing system, 3DBioFibR is the first to produce these specialized fibers at commercial scales. The technology is designed for a variety of tissue engineering applications, including additives for 3D bioprinting and hydrogels, and as cellular scaffolds for 2D and 3D cell and tissue culture.
