Zedge has pulled in $7.5M from investors Howard Jonas and Elliott Gibber, a cash infusion that gives the digital content company some fresh runway. The round, whose structure wasn’t disclosed, lands as Zedge looks to keep its eclectic mix of products humming.
The company operates a freemium marketplace for phone wallpapers, ringtones, and notification sounds, alongside the GuruShots photography game and Emojipedia, the emoji reference site. That combination-advertising, subscriptions, and a virtual token economy-drove more than 40 million users in May 2022. The new capital arrives with no stated purpose, but it’s a vote of confidence from two backers betting the marketplace-and-game synergy can keep paying off.
