VLC Photonics Secures $5.2M to Accelerate Next-Gen Photonic Innovation

VLC Photonics is excited to announce a milestone funding round of $5,200,000, a critical investment that will accelerate our mission to drive innovation in photonic integrated circuits and solidify our position as leaders in advanced engineering solutions.

Specializing in pure-play PIC design, testing, and assembly, our team is renowned for delivering turn-key engineering solutions across a broad spectrum of material platforms including SOI, SiN, SiO2/PLC, III-V materials, and breakthrough technologies like Thin Film Lithium Niobate (TFLN), BTO, polymers, AlO2, and Graphene.

This infusion of capital will empower us to expand our state-of-the-art infrastructure and further enhance our advanced equipment capabilities, ensuring unmatched precision in designing and testing cutting-edge circuits destined to revolutionize sectors such as datacom, quantum, metrology, sensing, LiDAR, bio-photonics, and beyond.

The funding will be strategically allocated to scale our custom PIC design services, including specialized layout and design support, along with bolstering our PDK development efforts.

Enhanced capabilities in automatic die and wafer-level testing, as well as comprehensive optical testing—from lasers and supercontinuum sources to a wide range of wavelengths—are also among the targeted improvements.

Additionally, investment in our assembly operations, such as chip bonding, fiber array pig-tailing, electrical wire-bonding and flip-chip techniques, connectorization, and thermal management, will propel our capabilities to new heights.
