Transforming Communities with Detroit Hives: Seed Round Funding Announcement

Detroit Hives, a pioneering honeybee education and conservation initiative, is thrilled to announce the successful fundraising of $102,410 aimed at enhancing our urban farming and community engagement efforts.

Founded by Timothy Paule and Nicole Lindsey, our nonprofit organization operates in over 25 locations across Detroit, managing a staggering 4.5 million honeybees.

Our mission is rooted in the belief that the health of bees reflects the health of humanity, particularly for underserved inner-city communities, especially those of color.

This recent infusion of funds will be instrumental in expanding our Bee The Change Program, which educates the next generation of leaders on sustainability and environmental stewardship.

In tackling the pressing issues of diversity, inclusion, and equity within Southeastern Michigan, Detroit Hives stands proud as a Black-led organization within a predominantly white-driven sector.

By transforming vacant lots into vibrant urban bee farms, we are not only revitalizing neighborhoods but also fostering a sense of community ownership and involvement.

Our participatory approach ensures that local residents have a voice in the design and maintenance of these green spaces, addressing environmental injustices, food insecurity, and blight in BIPOC communities.

With these new resources, Detroit Hives will amplify our impact, creating clean, sustainable environments that support both pollinator conservation and community well-being.
